Social Media Content Writing for Legal Aid NSW

Client: Legal Aid NSW

Industry: Legal services
Services: Social media content writing, translating legal concepts into engaging, plain English social content, editing and proofreading.

About the project: Legal Aid NSW has been evolving its social media strategy to focus on informative, audience-first content that makes legal information more accessible and engaging. Working alongside the in-house Copywriting Lead and Communications team, I helped create a series of educational social media campaigns designed to stop the scroll and help people better understand their legal rights and options.

Topics included the importance of making a will, workplace rights, discrimination, domestic and family violence, separation and sorting finances, and other common legal issues that affect everyday Australians. My role involved transforming complex legal concepts and source material into clear, engaging social media content that was easy for audiences to understand and act on.

This included writing social media carousel content and platform-specific captions for Legal Aid NSW’s Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn channels, ensuring each piece aligned with the organisation’s evolving tone of voice and communication style. The content needed to strike a careful balance between being informative, accessible and engaging, while remaining legally accurate and sensitive to the subject matter.

As Legal Aid NSW’s first experience working with freelance copywriters, it was a rewarding opportunity to collaborate closely with the communications team and help bring their new social media approach to life.
